The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to promoting its national image through strategic communication, cultural diplomacy and enhanced international engagement.
The Minister stated this on Friday, 23 October 2026, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, while receiving the President and Chairman of Council, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku, fnipr, and his delegation.
Their discussions focused on NIPR’s preparations for the forthcoming World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) scheduled to take place alongside the African Public Relations Association Conference in Nigeria in November 2026.
Dr. Neliaku sought the Ministry’s support in mobilising the diplomatic corps for the event and facilitating the participation of foreign public relations practitioners through Nigeria’s diplomatic missions abroad. The WPRF is expected to attract approximately 3,000 delegates from networks spanning 126 countries.
Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu commended the NIPR for securing the hosting rights for the event, noting that the Forum offered an opportunity to showcase Nigeria’s strengths and enhance the nation’s international reputation. She highlighted the imperative of credible communication, institutional responsiveness and quality service delivery for the building of excellent national image.
She welcomed the planned projection of Nigerian cultural heritage through fashion, music and cuisine, and assured the delegation of the Ministry’s support towards the success of the event.
Scheduled to hold in Abuja, Nigeria, from 15-22 November 2026, the WPRF is expected to advance Nigeria’s cultural diplomacy, promote cultural exchanges and further position the country as a destination for tourism, investment and international conferences.
