Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has arrived in Luanda, Angola, ahead of the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU).

Foreign Affairs Minister Arrives Luanda for 21st AU Extraordinary Summit

LUANDA, Angola — August 27, 2026: Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has arrived in Luanda, Angola, ahead of the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU).
The summit, scheduled for August 29–30, will focus on “Strengthening Mechanisms for Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa.”

Odumegwu-Ojukwu was received at the Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto Angola International Airport by officials of Angola’s Ministry of External Relations and the Nigerian Mission in Angola, led by Acting Chargé d’Affaires, Ambassador Maxy Ogbede.

The Minister is expected to receive Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday. Shettima will represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the high-level AU meeting.

During her stay, Odumegwu-Ojukwu is also scheduled to hold bilateral engagements, meet Nigerian Embassy staff and interact with Nigerians living in Angola.

The summit, preceded by the 26th Extraordinary Session of the AU Executive Council, is expected to strengthen preventive diplomacy, inclusive governance and coordination between the AU and Regional Economic Communities in addressing Africa’s evolving peace and security challenges.
