The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, OON, had a meeting with Mr. Charles Murito, Google’s Regional Director for Government Affairs and Public Policy (Sub-Saharan Africa), on Tuesday 24th February 2026 to advance discussions toward a structured Nigeria/Google strategic partnership.
Building on earlier exchangements in Davos, the Meeting discussed three priorities:
1. Deepening long-term collaboration beyond infrastructure
2. Institutionalizing AI skills and knowledge transfer; including support for the Ministry’s AI Unit
3. Exploring anticipatory diplomacy tools to strengthen information integrity and democratic resilience under the Regional Partnership for Democracy.
The technical teams will continue work to define clear, implementable outcomes at the intersection of AI, governance, and regional stability.
