Madam Aduke Gomez, received the Presidential Distinguished Service Award for Irish Abroad.

A Nigerian, Madam Aduke Gomez, was among the recipients of the Presidential Distinguished Service Award for Irish Abroad. The 2024 Award was presented by the Irish President, Mr. Michael D. Higgin. The Award ceremony is an annual recognition presented by the President of Ireland. Established by the government in 2012, the award honours individuals residing outside Ireland who have made exceptional contributions to the nation and its international reputation. To date, 120 individuals have received this prestigious award.
The award is open to Irish citizens, those entitled to Irish citizenship, individuals of Irish descent, and even non-Irish individuals who have significantly impacted Ireland or Irish communities. Eligible nominees must reside abroad and meet at least one of several criteria, such as enhancing Ireland’s international standing or contributing to global issues.
The Nigerian Embassy was represented at the ceremony by the Charge d’ Affaires at interim Amb. Mrs. lbiyemi Ajiboye – Roberts, commended Aduke Gomez for her outstanding contributions to Arts, Culture & Sport. Ambassador Ibiyemi also emphasized the significance of cultural exchange in strengthening ties between Ireland and Nigeria and expressed pride in the recognition of Nigerian talent on a global stage.
