The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf M. Tuggar ( OON) was Chief Host at the Inauguration of the Academy of International Affairs (AIA), Nigeria and Investiture Ceremony held at the Rotunda of the Ministry today Monday, 25th March, 2024.
The AIA, founded by Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and a leading scholar of International Affairs, is an independent Think Tank that aims to contribute to Foreign Policy formulation and implementation in Nigeria, through research-based policy planning and strategic analysis, high-level dialogue, conferences and publication of policy briefs and position papers, to support the articulation of national interest as well as a just and equitable world order.
The Chairman of the the occasion, was the Former Head of State of Nigeria, General Yakubu Gowon GCFR, while the Keynote address was delivered by the President of AFREXIMBANK, Professor Benedict Okey Oramah (CON).
The event was attended by distinguished dignitaries, including Fellows of the Academy of International Affairs (AIA), whose members comprise of accomplished retired Public Servants mostly former Ministers of Foreign Affairs from the Nigerian Diplomatic Service, the Security and Defence establishments and ranking Professors from various Nigerian universities. The event was also graced by Members of the Diplomatic Corps, and Captains of Industry among other participants.
