The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf M. Tuggar (OON) received in audience Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC) who led a delegation of UNFPA on a visit to the Ministry today, 16th April, 2024. On the delegation was Mr. Ojogun Tellson Osifo, Director General, NPC, and Mr. Koessan Francis Kuawu, Deputy Resident Representative, UNFPA among others.
Discussions centred on the Commission’s preparedness to organize credible census in Nigeria. In line with the 4-Ds Foreign Policy thrust of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Government, the Honourable Minister underscored the importance of Nigeria’s demographic dividend and welcomed efforts towards enhancing synergy between the Ministry and NPC.
The meeting also discussed the upcoming official visit to Nigeria by Dr. Natalia Kanem, UNFPA’s Executive Director.
