Nigeria and Switzerland have continued to build on the strong ties between them. The two countries share similar political features, including common devotion to federalism, respect for linguistic and cultural diversities through emphasis on consensus and affirmative representation. They also continued to share views on such international issues as maintenance of international peace and security, proliferation of small arms and light weapons, climate change, Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and the fight against terrorism and irregular migration.
Both countries undertook series of joint reviews of agreements within the period. Notable among these were the collaboration and pacts on immigration which have further taken bilateral relations to new heights. It is noteworthy that there are over 100 Swiss companies in Nigeria. The Zurich Nine Group of investors equally showed keen interest in Government’s Transportation Agenda.
