OFFICE OF THE HOUNOURABLE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND ITS RESPONSIBILITIES 

 
The Office of the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs is the highest office in the Ministry. The Minister is appointed by the President. He or she is supported by  Minister of State for Foreign Affairs who is also appointed by the President. The other Officers who help the Office of the Minister  to execute its responsibilities include Directors, and Foreign Service Officers who are career diplomats, etc.
The responsibilities of the Office of the Mnister include:
 -maintaining relations with other states and international organizations;
  • -representing and protecting the interests of the Federal Republic of Nigeria , Nigerian citizens and legal entities abroad;

  • -organizing and supervising the activities of  Nigeria’s diplomatic missions and consulates;

  • -implementing policies and supervising their implementation through the relevant agencies;

 -directing the government administration branches of  foreign relations;
-maintaining the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s relations with other states and international organizations;
  • -coordinating the foreign policy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
